Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to make a custom ring?
Once we settle on a design, it takes me about 6-8 weeks to create your custom ring. Depending on how long it takes to finalize your design choices and source a stone, the entire process can take about three months.
I may be able to accommodate rush orders, but it’s always best when we have more time so I can do my best work.
How long before the proposal should I reach out for an engagement ring?
The custom design process can take around three months from the initial consult to finished product. Aim to reach out at least four months before your intended proposal date so you’ll have lots of time to make decisions and don’t feel rushed.
If you have less than three months, reach out ASAP and I will see if I can fit in a rush job.
Do you make engagement rings for men?
Absolutely! I make rings for any gender.
How do I figure out my partner's ring size?
There are several ways to do this depending on whether or not your partner knows you’re ring shopping or not.
You can take them to a local jewelry store to be professionally sized, or grab a ring sizer from the shop.
I also have a blog post that details some sneaky ways to get their ring size without them knowing, but always prefer an accurate measurement.
Can my partner and I design our engagement rings together?
Yes yes yes! There is no right or wrong way to choose an engagement ring and it’s absolutely fine to involve your partner in the design process.
Whether they’re included from start to finish or just in on the initial consult and we keep the final design a surprise, having your partner’s input can help take some of the pressure off and make the experience something fun you do together.
I don't want a diamond. What are the alternatives?
There are so many alternatives to diamond!
For engagement rings, I only work with stones that are durable enough for long-term daily wear, but that still leaves a lot of options.
Some examples are sapphire (which comes in a rainbow of shades), Moissanite, Ruby, Spinel, Alexandrite, Topaz, etc.
No matter the style you’re going for, I’m sure I can find a stone that you’ll fall in love with.

What metals do you work with?
For engagement rings, I mostly work with 14k or 18k gold (yellow, white, rose). Platinum is also a possiblity.
Where are you located?
I live and work in Canada, just outside of Ottawa, Ontario.
While this is where the magic happens, I’m able to make custom jewelry for clients all over the world. All consults can be done virtually and your finished engagement ring will be shipped safely and securely with Fedex Priority service.
Custom Engagement Ring Design Process
Consultation
Let’s chat! The most important part of designing an engagement ring is getting to know the person who is going to wear it. After you fill out the engagement ring design form, I’ll go through your answers and then we’ll book a time to chat (virtually). During this one-on-one consultation, we’ll talk about your partner’s style preferences and any special meaning you’d like to incorporate into the design.
Design
Once we’ve gotten to the core of what you want, it’s my time to shine. We’ll go through some stone options and I’ll get to work creating two to three one-of-a-kind design options based on what we discussed during the consult.
From here you’ll pick the design you like the best and you’ll have a chance to request any tweaks or changes, then we’ll agree on a final design.
Creation
Time to make your dream a reality! Depending on the design, I’ll either use CAD software to make a 3D rendering that will be cast in your metal of choice, or I’ll create the jewelry piece by hand using traditional goldsmithing techniques.
This process will take around 6-8 weeks from when you’ve settled on a final design and paid the deposit.
While you’re waiting, I’ll send you updates on your engagement ring so you can follow along at each and every step.
When the ring is ready to ship, you’ll get an email from me and your final invoice.
All that’s left is to plan the perfect proposal.
